Comox Valley RCMP report week of April 10-16

Vehicles impounded; bikes and skateboards stolen

A driver was given a 24-hour driving prohibition, after erratic driving behaviour Highway 19, near Buckley Bay, caught the attention of a Comox Valley RCMP officer on April 10. A traffic stop was conducted and it was discovered that the driver was operating the motor vehicle while impaired. (2018-4568)

Urquhart hot wheels

On April 10, the Comox Valley RCMP received a report of a break, enter and theft from a carport on the 300 block of Urquhart Avenue, in Courtenay. Two bicycles – a child’s green Norco bike and a child’s orange CCM bike – were stolen, as well as two skate boards. (2018-4573)

Propane tank picked

A theft of propane tanks and mischief to a trailer was reported on April 11. The trailer was parked on the 460 block of 19 Street, in Courtenay. A lock that secured the propane tanks had been cut, and a wheel was damaged. (2018-4638)

Slash and scratch on Dingwall

A second mischief to a vehicle was reported to the Comox Valley RCMP on April 11. A vehicle parked overnight on the 1500 Dingwall Road, in Courtenay had a tire slashed and the driver door scratched. (2018-4639)

Speed demon

A vehicle found doing 175 km/h in the posted 120 km/h speed zone on Highway 19 near Union Bay on April 12, was impounded. A Comox Valley RCMP Municipal Traffic officer was conducting stationary speed enforcement when the vehicle was located. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was issued a violation ticket for Excessive speed. (2018-4699)

Drunk curbed in Black Creek

A vehicle was stopped by a Comox Valley RCMP Municipal Traffic officer for speeding in the Black Creek area,and an impaired operation of a motor vehicle investigation was subsequently started. It was found that the driver had consumed alcohol before driving. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition, and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. (2018-4739)
