Comox Valley RCMP report, week of Jan. 9-15

Be on the lookout for a 2013 Audi

From Jan. 9-15, the Comox Valley RCMP responded to five calls for theft from vehicles. Items taken from these vehicles included cash/change, a backpack, electronics, cheques and licence plates. The Comox Valley RCMP is reminding residents to ensure your vehicle is locked if you leave it parked for any length of time. Always ensure you do not leave anything of value in your vehicle.

Handyman thief?

On Jan. 9, a report of a break, enter and theft was reported to the Comox Valley RCMP. A work trailer, which had been parked overnight on the 300 block of 12th Street, had been broken into. Several construction tools, including nail guns, framing nailers, a Sawzall (reciprocating saw) and coil nailers had been stolen. (2018-454)

Portable garage grabbed

A property theft was reported on Jan. 11. Sometime in the early evening, an unknown person had entered a carport, located on the 1600 block of Elm Avenue, in Comox. A large portable tent garage, which was still in the box, was stolen. (2018-545)

Business window smashed

A business, located on the 2700 block of Dunsmuir Avenue, in Cumberland, had the front window smashed between 10 p.m. and midnight on Jan. 13. Entry was not gained into the business. (2018-651)

Unwanted paint job

The Comox Valley RCMP were advised of a mischief to a piece of equipment on Jan. 14. Sometime overnight, an excavator that had been parked on the 2300 block of Kendal Avenue, in Cumberland, had been spray-painted, causing damage to the windows. (2018-672)

Stolen Audi

A theft of a vehicle was reported to the Comox Valley RCMP on Jan. 15. The vehicle, a black, 2013 Audi Q5 was stolen from the Sunwest Volkswagen, located on the 400 block of Ryan Road, sometime between the evening of Saturday, Jan. 13, and Monday morning, Jan. 15. The Audi is described as having black alloy wheels and a generic plate frame with 2013 on the front and back.
