On Feb. 11, at approximately 6 p.m., Comox Valley RCMP were called to a suspicious fire on the 100-block of Back Road in Courtenay.
The fire occurred in the stairwell of St. Brelades Court, a condo building at 146 Back Road. building and appears to have been intentionally set. A young man was seen running from the area toward Ryan Road. He may have been wearing a black hoodie and covered up his face.
“Fortunately, the fire did not have a chance to grow in size before it was discovered by residents and quickly extinguished,” said Const. Monika Terragni, Comox Valley RCMP media relations officer. “We are looking for witnesses who can help identify the man who was seen running from the area.”
