“Our bodies are our gardens – our wills are our gardeners.” — William Shakespeare.

Having lived in this beautiful valley for 25+ years, I know a lot of people.

Some know me as a friend, a mother, a performer, a person who takes an excessive amount of photographs of her dog, a graphic artist, a volunteer, an MC or any number of other hats I wear.

I began a 30-day challenge Oct. 1 in which I am taking 30 yoga classes in 30 days. There will be days that I won’t be able to attend a class, so I will have to do double duty on other days, taking two classes instead of one.

The question “Why?” comes to my mind as it may be coming to yours.

I am simply doing this to complete a challenge I set for myself. My rules are simple: I am not going to weigh myself or break out a tape measure; how I feel is more important than a calculation of my body’s relative mass giving rise to a downward force.

I will not stress about this. If I miss a class I will make it up and will not beat myself up over it.

Finally, I will not starve myself; this is about health and setting goals.

My goal is to be less sedentary and strong in my will to complete this. Every one of us have parts of our lives we could work a little on and my main goal is to stay focused and complete my challenge.

I hope that you stay with me and keep me (and my will) company!
