The Comox Valley Regional District will not be running the beach fire program for the 2021 season. It is being cancelled to support public safety measures and physical distancing requirements.

“At this time more than ever we need to follow Public Health recommendations in order to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community,” said parks manager Mark Harrison. “Fire rings bring people together and this is not the time to be promoting this activity. We realize that many residents enjoy the beach fire program and we look forward to offering it again in the future when it is safer to do so.”

Residents are still be able to bring hibachis and small propane barbecues to regional beaches if they wish to cook and have family picnics. All public health recommendations including physical distancing requirements need to be adhered to.
