What better day to do the Westie Walk than the very day of the annual Highland Games and to merge with the Games, which are held May 21 at Lewis Park.

This year, we are meeting at 10:30 a.m. at the Airpark, (near the doggie fountain) for some social time for dogs and owners.

At 12:15 p.m., we move away to the fountain in front of the Sid Williams Theatre.

From there, we will walk to and onto the grounds of Lewis Park  where the Highland Games are being held.

Walking ahead of the parade of dogs will be a piper and kilted lassies sent to meet us from the games — so bring your cameras.

Some of those Westies might look a bit different to you. In fact, if not dark brown, they could even be black. Those are actually our cousins, the Cairns and the Scotties who deserve to be every much a part of this event as the Westies.

If you know of any Highland breeds amid your friends and neighbours, help spread the word.
