About 30 protesters gathered in front of Abbotsford-Mission MLA Randy Hawes’ office Friday afternoon to voice their opposition to a gravel pit mine in the Lake Errock area. The crowd has been sending letters to the MLA and other government officials citing their concerns about silica dust, the potential for environmental damages to the area, and a loss of quality of life for residents.
