The second of two men involved in a violent robbery in Lumby in 2016 won’t serve any jail time.
Court records indicate Judge Mayland McKimm sentenced Keegan Riley Reed, born in 1995, to an 18-month conditional sentence for his role in a robbery at the Mac’s Convenience Store April 24, 2016.
Records show Reed pleaded guilty to two counts of theft under $5,000 and accessory after the fact while counts of unlawful confinement and uttering threats were stayed.
A female clerk at the convenience store was held at knifepoint after a lone man entered the facility shortly after 1 a.m. The man locked the door leading outside and held a knife to the woman, forcing her to sit on the floor behind the till. An undisclosed amount of cash, lottery tickets and cigarettes were stolen.
Thomas Antoine August Belanger, born in 1981, pleaded guilty in December 2016 to counts of robbery and unlawful confinement. He was sentenced in February to 23 months in prison and will be placed on three years probation at the end of his sentence. Belanger was given a 10-year firearms prohibition and ordered to pay a $100 victim surcharge.
Reed will be placed on 24 months probation at the end of his conditional sentence. He was given a three-year firearms prohibition and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of $200.
