Conservative Dick Harris wins Cariboo-Prince George riding

Conservative Dick Harris will be the Cariboo Prince George MP yet again.

Conservative Dick Harris will be the Cariboo Prince George MP yet again.

The preliminary results are as follows:

Dick Harris (Conservatives): 24,443 votes

Jon Van Barneveld (NDP): 13,135 votes

Heidi Redl (Green): 2,702 votes

Sangeeta Lalli (Liberal): 2,190 votes

Henry Thiessen (Christian Heritage): 440 votes

Jon Ronan (Independent): 394 votes

Jordan Turner (Rhinoceros) 204 votes

According to Elections Canada, about 58 per cent of registered Cariboo-Prince George voters voted in the 2011 federal election.

The Conservative Party has formed a majority government, with the NDP being the Official Opposition.

For the first time in history, the Green Party has won a seat in parliament, as party leader Elizabeth May won in her Saanich-Gulf Islands riding.

Results are still preliminary and unofficial.
