School District 23 will likely award the contract for construction of Mar Jok Elementary School when it meets today.
In the agenda for the special public board meeting, it is recommended the Board of Education award the construction contract to Sawchuck Developments Co. Ltd. for $10.7 million plus GST.
Sawchuck Developments came in with the lowest bid out of seven tenders.
According to the meeting agenda, Sawchuck Developments tender includes the complete scope outlined in the detailed architectural and engineering specifications.
The tender included an option to upgrade from storefront to a curtain wall front wall system, for an additional $20,000.
The school will be constructed in Rose Valley, at the corner of Rosewood Drive and McDougall Road.
Construction on a new sports field next to the site of the future school is already underway. Rosewood Sports Field will be the first full-size soccer facility in the north end of West Kelowna.
Both Mar Jok Elementary School and the new sports field are expected to be open for the start of the 2014/15 school year.
