The city has put out an advisory to the public about a controlled burn underway this month on Terrace Mountain.
Currently Westland Resources is burning wood piles left behind from right-right-of way brushing done last year on the power line that connects to an airport beacon located at the top of the mountain.
The fire department has received several calls, and was itself caught off guard by the commencement of the burn, says deputy fire chief Dave Jephson.
“Last summer they cleared it and stockpiled it and the ministry of forests has issued a burning permit,” he said.
