Abbotsford Police have issued a public notice about the release from prison of a convicted sex offender.

Adrian Julian Wilson, 34, is 5′ 6″, weighs 170 pounds, and has short brown hair and brown eyes. He is residing in the Abbotsford area.

According to police, Wilson has a criminal history involving robberies and sex-related offences against men and women. He is considered to be a high risk to re-offend.

In December 2011, RCMP in Comox Valley — on Vancouver Island — issued a similar warning about Wilson, after he was released from jail and was living in that area.

Wilson then did several media interviews, saying he had changed and there was no reason for people to fear him.

He was returned to prison just over a month later for breaching his conditions by entering a liquor store. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four months in jail followed by 18 months’ probation.

RCMP again issued a public notice upon his release from prison in April 2012. He again breached his conditions – within six hours of his release – by drinking alcohol. He was arrested at a bus terminal in Nanaimo and returned to prison.

Wilson was handed a sentence of 407 days, followed by two years’ probation. He was released this week from that jail term.

His previous crimes include the 2002 rape of a 72-year-old woman in Nanaimo, after he had flagged down an elderly couple’s motor home on a highway in Nanaimo. He had just been released from prison that day for a previous offence.

Wilson received an eight-year sentence for sexual assault and robbery.

He has a long list of court-ordered conditions, including not entering a liquor store, not consuming alcohol and remaining in his residence between 10 p.m. and 6 a..m each day.

Anyone who sees Wilson in violation of any of the conditions is asked to contact their local police. In Abbotsford, the number is 604-859-5225.
