Fort St. James RCMP would like to thank the community for their amazing support of this year’s Cops for Cancer/Jail-n-Bail held on Tuesday August 16, 2016.

It was an all ages event where participants called in to have someone arrested by a uniformed police officer, for $20 with a frisk and handcuff added for $10.

Detainees rode around in marked police vehicles, some of which blasting “Bad Boys” around town with a final destination of jail on the corner of Stuart Drive West and Manson Street.

Bail was suggested by the callers and set by the Jailer and fun was had by all.

Fort St. James RCMP has a rider this year, Constable Brendan Nickle, who will be making the long trek from Prince George to Prince Rupert with a stop in Fort St. James.

“Thank you to the community of Fort St. James and the Nak’azdli Band for an awesome turn out. You opened your hearts (and wallets) to help support an amazing cause and have really shown what the spirit of Fort St. James is all about,” Nickle said.

Cops for Cancer Tour De North is an exciting annual event that takes place each September when a team of RCMP members and emergency services personnel from across northern BC brave all types of weather as they cycle 7 days from Prince George to Prince Rupert.

The tour will be coming to Fort St. James on Saturday September 17, 2016 from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. Riders will be having a meet and greet and lunch and heading on to Vanderhoof.
