A snowfall alert is in effect for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt.
Environment Canada reports heavy snow will persist over Highway 5 Friday, Nov. 13, with the heaviest amounts of snow expected this afternoon.
Approximately 20 centimetres of snow has fallen since last night as a Pacific storm continues to move across the B.C. Interior.
An additional 25 to 35 centimetres of snow can be expected by Saturday morning before the snow tapers into flurries early Saturday afternoon. Environment Canada advises drivers to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve, and to prepare for quickly changing road conditions.
Driving has also been slippery in the Okanagan Valley Friday. A serious collision on Highway 97 near the Jammery and Jealous Fruits in Lake Country led to lengthy southbound traffic delays. Other vehicle incidents have been reported on Highway 97 south of Vernon and on Westside Road earlier this morning.
A mix of snow and rain is expected to end this afternoon in Vernon and Kelowna, with a few flurries or rain showers expected this evening.
