The Port Alberni RCMP detachment is investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Saturday morning, Aug. 9, 2014,  at the 7-Eleven convenience store located at 2892 Third Ave.

At 5:20 a.m. a 9-1-1 call was received from the clerk who advised that two masked males brandishing weapons entered the store and stole cigarettes and cash before fleeing on foot. The clerk fully complied with the demands made by the suspects and was fortunately not injured in the incident, according to an RCMP press release.

Police responded immediately to the scene and contained the area in an effort to locate the suspects. Extensive patrols were conducted in an area south of the store where the males were last observed, however they were not located.

The suspects are described as being Caucasian males, early 20’s, and one is believed to have brown hair.

Given the violent nature of this incident, we are working fervently to obtain the evidence required to determine who these individuals are,,said Port Alberni RCMP Staff Sgt. Dave Paddock.
