Coulson Sikorsky helicopter to fight Fort McMurray wildfire

The province of Alberta has contracted one of Coulson Aviation's Sikorsky S-61's to fight the 2,600 hectare fire raging near Fort McMurray.

The province of Alberta has contracted one of Coulson Aviation’s Sikorsky S-61’s to fight the 2,600 hectare fire raging near Fort McMurray. The fire has hit city limits and all of Fort McMurray is under an evacuation order, according to the province.

“The Alberta government has contracted one of our Sikorsky S-61’s.  It will be landing shortly in Fort McMurray to help with the fire there,” read a statement from CEO Wayne Coulson on the the Martin Mars Water Tankers Facebook page.

“Our second fire fighting aircraft will arrive back from Australia next week and we will be offering it to Alberta as well.”
