Council endorses requests from IPE

It’s never too early to begin planning for the North Okanagan’s largest agricultural fair.

It’s never too early to begin planning for the North Okanagan’s largest agricultural fair.

Armstrong council has unanimously granted three requests from the Interior Provincial Exhibition, which will run Aug. 31 to Sept. 4.

Council said yes to a request for pedestrian access from a rented parking area on Otter Lake Road, which allows patrons a chance to walk the most direct route to the fairgrounds.

The IPE also asked if temporary lighting in that area could be set up during the fair, and the city will consider the request.

Park Drive from Pleasant Valley Road to Adair Street will also be closed during the IPE, which is a normal practice.

And West Coast Amusements will be given permission to use a city lot on Jackson and Sugden Avenue to facilitate overflow parking.

TV Spotlight

Two North Okanagan communities are increasing their profile this weekend.

Coun. Paul Britton announced that Armstrong and Spallumcheen will be featured Saturday on Global TV’s morning news’ Small Town B.C. segment.

“They’re asking people to send one photo of our area for the Small Town B.C. feature,” said Britton.

If you want to send a photo, it can go to weekendnews@globaltv.com.
