Great Cariboo Ride Society equipment storage request rejected

The Great Cariboo Ride Society sent a letter to council requesting storage space at the Community Works compound for a 30-foot reefer and a 16-foot cargo trailer.

It wasn’t a governance issue (where council would be required to make a decision), so administration forwarded it to the Community Services department for input.

Community Services staff was opposed to the request because there is limited space in the compound, liability issues and determined it’s not a good practice to allow third-party access to secured operation facilities.

Administration also polled councillors and most agreed with the staff’s recommendation.

It was noted administration would have normally dealt with the request, but it was brought to the council meeting because the letter was addressed to council specifically.

At its June 25 District of 100 Mile House council meeting, councillors ratified staff’s recommendation to deny the request.
