The 17th annual Bella Coola Music Festival is just around the corner and this year’s line up is jam packed! A total of 16 amazing acts are waiting to take the stage on July 23 and 24 and there is sure to be something for everyone at this year’s Festival.

The fun kicks off on Friday night at 8pm with a show at the Legion featuring Carly Dow and the Crooked Brothers. The show is offered by donation and is held on the Legion’s regular burger night so it’s a great opportunity to support both the Legion and the Festival.

You don’t want to miss this one of a kind group; a band with a sound described as “crooked, crusty, and maybe a little bit crazy, roots-rockers The Crooked Brothers twist and re-knot the traditions of folk, country and bluegrass in their own marvellously tortile way. Close your eyes and you might be listening to hard-luck Mississippi sharecroppers as easily as a trio of suburban Winnipeg boys.”

The fun continues all weekend at the site with performances beginning every morning at 11am and lasting until the wee hours. The line up this year is eclectic and fantastic – world music sensation Elage Diouf will be entertaining the crowd in three languages, including his native Wolof, while Mohawk blues crooner Murray Porter and Ojibway singer/songwriter Nick Sherman will be representing the best of Canadian Indigenous music in this country.

There are some of the best female songstresses in the country including Jill Barber, Amelia Curran, Scarlett Jane and Jocelyn Pettit. 2015 Juno Award Winner Quique Escamilla will be bringing the sounds of his native Mexico to the stage as will fiddler extraordinaire Jocelyn Pettit and country-rock group Ben Rogers.

And good thing the nights are long because hard rock kings Bend Sinister and High Society will be sticking around to close the show on Saturday and Sunday night. There are just too many great groups this year!

We also have a special treat with Gustavo the Impossibilist back to entertain the kids (and adults) along with Magical Jesaja who wowed the crowd last year with his amazing show. And the climbing wall is back both days!
