The 115th annual Country Fest went off without a hitch.

The weather was perfect, according to manager Lorraine Bates.

“It was a huge success.”

The fair attracted 41 4-H clubs, more than the PNE, she added.

Bates attributes the latter to the fact the Maple Ridge fair doesn’t charge 4-H members entry fees, or for camping on the grounds.

The fair does charge $2 for parking at the Albion Fairgrounds. And judging by the number of vehicles parked each day, and the fact the grounds were packed both days – including the beer garden – is indicative of its success, Bates said.

She had people come up to her and compliment the fair and its many attractions, and she saw families having picnics on the spacious grassy areas the grounds provide.

The fair was fun and affordable for them, “and that’s what it’s all about.”
