A number of locations in Western Canada selected to give vaccine

Courtenay’s London Drugs location is now taking bookings for the COVID-19 vaccine.

The company says on its website that its certified injection pharmacists will administer the vaccine safely and effectively to people who are eligible as determined by federal and provincial governments.

“We have them ready to go,” says a company spokesperson.

A number of locations were announced for Western Canada to deliver the immunization vaccine.

The province’s pharmacy program will deliver the AstraZeneca vaccine at eligible locations to people born in 1981 or earlier. The age requirement was lowered again on April 19.

No pharmacies have been listed for the Comox Valley on the BC Pharmacy Association or the provincial government site. The closest community listed is Parksville. However, the booking site for London Drugs lists both the Courtenay and Campbell River locations as taking booking for the vaccine.

The Record has contacted the BC Pharmacy Association to find out whether more pharmacies will be taking appointments in the near future.
