There has been a COVID exposure at Princess Margaret Secondary.
Parents were sent home a letter on Tuesday evening informing them that someone in the school community has tested positive for the corona virus.
The district is working with Interior Health while they undertake contract tracing to determine if any other members of the school were in contact with that person, said the letter.
“As the principal of the school my main priority has been and always will be the safety and well being of the students and staff at Princess Margaret,” said Principal Roger Wiebe. “I fully appreciate that this news is concerning and upsetting; however rest assured that I will continue to keep you well informed during this time.”
Students are encouraged to continue to come to school.
This is the first exposure at a high school in SD67. That compared to Kelowna where high schools have had multiple exposures over the past month.

On Sunday night, parents of Giant’s Head Elementary in Summerland learned that a person at that school had tested positive for COVID.
The potential exposure days at Giant’s Head were Nov. 23, 24, 25, 26, according to Interior Health’s school exposures website.
In both cases, the person with COVID is self isolating and the school is recommending students continue to attend school.
The Okanagan is experiencing a surge in cases. A staff member at city hall in Summerland tested positive this week. The Penticton Curling Club has shut down since four members have tested positive for COVID. A player with the Vees has also tested positive.
