There were 31 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Penticton from Dec. 20 to 26, according to data released today (Dec. 31) by the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC).
The total number of cases recorded in the city since the start of the pandemic is now at 212.
The 31 cases reported over the six-day span represents a slight increase compared to the previous week. From Dec. 13 to 19 there were 28 cases recorded.

Starting with data from the week of Nov. 29 to Dec. 5, the BCCDC began providing weekly updates for local health areas throughout the province.
The health areas in the South Okanagan are identified as Penticton, Keremeos, and the South Okanagan (Oliver and Osoyoos).
In Keremeos, there was one case of COVID-19 from Dec. 20 to 26, and in the South Okanagan area, encompassing Oliver and Osoyoos, there were 15 new cases.
There were four COVID-19 deaths at McKinney Place care home in Oliver, reported Dec. 29. The total case count there remains at 75 as of Dec. 31.
Penticton’s Village by the Station care home also recorded one COVID-19 death Dec. 31.
