COVID-19 exposure at fourth Comox Valley school: Island Health

Advisory follows ones for two other schools and daycare

Another school in the Comox Valley has had a positive test for COVID-19, according to Island Health.

The region’s health authority sent a letter to parents, guardians and staff of École Au-cœur-de-l’île on Linshart Road in Comox on Feb. 22. For privacy reasons, it could not provide specific information that would identify the person.

The letter notes that a member of the school community has tested positive for COVID-19 and is being isolated. Island Health is in contact with the person. The days of potential exposure are Feb. 16 and 17. It also states that the letter does not mean a student, parent or guardian has been exposed.

Island Health is conducting contact tracing to identify staff or students who need to self-isolate for 14 days. It will contact anyone potentially affected through phone or letters. Anyone who is not contacted should continue to monitor for any symptoms of the coronavirus. If they have symptoms, they should seek testing and self-isolate.
