A hastily organized Christmas parade will wind through the streets of Princeton Sat. Dec 12, beginning at noon.
Recreation director Cody Naples said it wasn’t known until Monday Dec.7, after a provincial health order update, what if anything could be done to deliver Christmas cheer to residents.
Santa Claus will be the star of the procession, and fire trucks will follow with volunteers collecting donations for the Princeton Food Bank.
Some businesses and individuals have stepped forward promising to decorate their vehicles and take part, and there will be a horse drawn carriage and individual riders.
The parade starts at the fire hall, and will follow a route through the tunnel area, to downtown, Allison Flats and then the second and third benches.
Naples stressed that all COVID protocols are being followed.
No one will be allowed to approach Santa, the horses or trucks, and everyone except for two food bank volunteers will stay in their vehicles.
The volunteers will be masked and gloved, and take sanitation precautions. They are not allowed to enter property, so people with donations for the food bank are asked to leave their offerings in front of their homes.
“We’re encouraging people to wave and take pictures,” said Naples.
The parade was originally planned for Sunday, but was bumped back a day due to an inclement weather forecast.
