Vaccines are in motion among the seniors communities in the Hope area.
The B.C. Centre for Disease Control recently released vaccination rates for long term care facilities across the province. According to the BCCDC, 52 of 55 residents at Fraser Hope Lodge have received the first dose of their COVID-19 vaccine, a rate of 95 per cent.
At Riverside Manor, site manager Virginia Roberts told The Standard that a majority of the 35 residents have received their second COVID-19 dose. As of publication, Riverside has seen no outbreaks.

“We really pride ourselves on infection control,” Roberts said.
John Duff of Park Street Manor said they are still waiting on word about their COVID-19 vaccine doses. Until then, he added, the staff and residents are performing “due diligence” to keep COVID out.

Throughout the province, 91 per cent of the 34,217 long-term care residents have received their first dose. About 92 per cent of the Fraser Health region’s residents have received the first dose, making up 9,837 long-term care seniors who received the first of two doses.
By mid-January, nearly 16,000 long-term care residents in the Fraser Health region received their first dose, accounting for about 47 per cent of residents. By Jan. 11, frontline healthcare workers at Fraser Canyon Hospital had been vaccinated.
According to an announcement in early January, the province hopes to deliver 792,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine by March with a “mass vaccination” strategy, which will vaccinate by descending five-year age groups following people aged 80 and older.
