The Parksville Fire Department’s Annual Food and Toy Drive received a boost from the Craig Bay Estates strata community this year.
Residents organized coffee and goodies for the fire department staff and home owners donating grocery bags of food. And donate they did! Over 3,000 pounds were collected in less than an hour for the local Salvation Army’s food banks as residents converged at the fire truck early Sunday morning.
Over 20,000 pounds of food have been collected in the Oceanside area so far— and it’s not even December.
This organized gathering was so successful, the Parksville Fire Department and Craig Bay Estates would like to encourage other stratas in the area to jump on the bandwagon and coordinate a food bank drive in their community next year.
It can be a fun social event, but more importantly, it can be a wonderful chance to help others in our Oceanside community who are less fortunate.
Stratas in the community can contact the Parksville Volunteer Fire Department directly at 250-248-3242.
Let’s set a record again next year!
