Cranbrook RCMP responded to 180 calls for service from Monday, August 31 to Sept. 6. Sgt. Scott Milliken provided the details for the police report.
Aug. 31
8:20 a.m. Police responded to a call under the Mental Health Act, after a distressed person called 911.
8:40 a.m. A search warrant was carried out.
8:57 a.m. A white 2003 Ford F350 was stolen from the 1700 block of Cranbrook Street North.
9:24 a.m. Police responded to a case of child luring over the internet. The parents of a young girl reported that she had been sending photos to someone over the internet.
9:35 a.m. An erratic driver with an Alberta licence plate was reported near the Wardner bridge.
9:46 a.m. The family of a man who had passed away wanted the man’s guns destroyed.
11:59 a.m. A man from Alberta was arrested on a breach of court orderer conditions. The man was supposed to stay in Alberta. A second man was arrested.
12:32 p.m. A youth was reported to be trashing the inside of a house and destroying property.
1:19 p.m. An individual reported he had been beaten up by a landlord in a tenancy dispute.
1:56 p.m. A man was brought to the hospital under the Mental Health Act.
2:09 a.m. The second man arrested in a court ordered breach incident from earlier was also charged with breach.
2:27 p.m. Police received a report of a fraud that involved a timeshare.
2:26 p.m. A complainant reported they had been verbally abused by a man and wanted a file created.
3:01 p.m. Some children were reported for causing a mischief at T.M. Roberts School. They were kicking at the doors.
3:15 p.m. A man called for assistance in finding his wife. She had taken his money and left with someone else.
4:03 p.m. Police contacted a woman after a call she placed to 911 was abandoned.
4:14 p.m. A disturbance was reported at Gyro Park as a result of some intoxicated youths. A male and two females were pulling garbage out of the washroom there.
4:40 p.m. A red canoe was spotted floating down the Kootenay River near where Bull River enters. The canoe was empty.
10:00 p.m. Police were requested to keep the peace as an individual removed things out of a home.
10:36 p.m. A speeding vehicle was reported on Victoria and 2nd Street North.
Sept. 1
1:11 a.m. A child called in a domestic in progress — his parents were fighting.
7:42 a.m. Drugs were turned in at the front counter of the detachment.
8:12 a.m. Report of an erratic driver. A vehicle with BC plates was passing on double solid lines.
1:09 p.m. An SUV and a tractor collided, causing minor injuries to those involved. IT occurred on Theatre Road and McPhee Road.
3:29 p.m. A mother was reported attacking her son.
6:45 p.m. A grizzly attack near the city’s irrigation fields was reported. This was reported in last week’s Townsman.
8:17 p.m. An abandoned 911 call came in. It was a cell phone and police tried to find the cell’s location by GPS, but could only narrow it down to a 830 mile radius.
8:29 p.m. Loud music and wood chopping was reported coming from an Eagle Ridge Crescent property.
Sept. 2
5:28 p.m. A beige F350 truck was reported stolen from the 1800 block of Theatre Road.
9:05 p.m. A mental health patient transferred from Trail to Cranbrook was reported because he had stopped taking medication.
10:50 a.m. A shoplifter was reported at a local grocery store.
3:03 p.m. A driver was reported to be passing on the shoulder of Theatre Road.
5:11 p.m. A white Ford F150 was reported for possible impaired driving.
Sept. 3
12:22 a.m. A vehicle fire was reported at a local car repair shop.
8:52 a.m. A complainant reported that a female had thrown a coffee at her.
11:22 a.m. Another agency requested Cranbrook RCMP to execute a warrant on a man in the area.
1:40 p.m. A caller reported that his neighbour shouldn’t be driving.
2:45 p.m. A complainant said they’d purchased a skateboard from someone online, but despite sending money, no skateboard has arrived.
5:45 p.m. A motor vehicle collision occurred when a motor home hit another vehicle. The occupants of the motor home only spoke German and were just passing through town. That occurred on the 600 block of Cranbrook Street North.
5:50 p.m. A male in the alley was heard yelling threats, but when the caller looked again, there was no one there.
6:49 p.m. A caller reported that $3,000-4,000 worth of tools was stolen from a residence on the 300 block of 18th Avenue South.
7:12 p.m. Report of a suspicious occurrence. The caller said a vehicle pulled into her driveway, a man got out, and then walked away.
Sept. 4
4:00 a.m. Police responded to a call about an unwanted guest — an intoxicated person that had gone onto the complainants patio and laid down on the furniture. That was on 7th Avenue.
5:25 a.m. Police assisted with a single vehicle that had gone into the ditch on the 6100 block of Highway 3/93. There were minor injuries.
6:01 a.m. A warrant was issued for a male in town.
7:37 a.m. Police were requested to check the wellbeing of a person who had started their car at 5:30 a.m. The car was still left running two hours later.
9:41 a.m. A camera worth $1,000 was stolen from a local camera store.
10:32 a.m. Neighbours were having an ongoing dispute, with the latest iteration including one neighbour throwing concrete on the other’s driveway.
12:44 p.m. A man reportedly frightened some people at Kinsmen Park.
12:47 p.m. Two boys were reported playing guitars outside Superstore. They had run away from home.
12:50 p.m. A caller reported that the window of their F150 had been smashed.
1:58 p.m. A brown 2006 Norco with blue grips was reported stolen. It was stolen overnight in the downtown area.
6:05 p.m. A caller had locked herself in a room and reported a domestic dispute in progress.
11:43 p.m. A vehicle went into the ditch on King Street.
Sept. 5
3:03 p.m. A caller reported items stolen by a suspect addicted to crack cocaine.
4:07 p.m. A suspicious vehicle was reported abandoned out towards Wardner.
6:01 p.m. The hospital requested assistance to restrain a patient.
7:30 p.m. The driver of a black Chevrolet Equinox was reported as a possible impaired driver after leaving a liquor store.
9:30 p.m. An assault was reported at the hospital. A patient assaulted a nurse.
10:47 p.m. A man was reported for assaulting a female in front of a pub downtown.
Sept. 6
3:35 a.m. An intoxicated female was reported knocking at the complainant’s door.
4:52 a.m. A fire was reported at St. Eugene. Live wires were hanging from a pole. It may have been a motor vehicle accident.
11:27 a.m. Report of a shoplifter at a local gas station.
12:31 p.m. Counterfeit bills were found and reported.
2:10 p.m. A man assaulted another man at a group home.
2:10 p.m. An elderly woman driving a Honda was reported for driving into oncoming traffic on 11th avenue and Baker Street.
4:17 p.m. A missing woman was reported. She had boarded a flight from here to Prince George with a stop in Vancouver. The caller had not heard from her since.
8:20 p.m. A loud party in which marijuana smoke could be smelled was reported.
11:33 p.m. A caller reported someone was rifling through pop bottles in their carport.
