Cullen back as MP; NDP make official opposition

Nathan Cullen has secured another term as the Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP, blazing ahead of other candidates.

The Conservatives’ Clay Harmon was the closest competitor with 12,255 votes, or 34.9 per cent.

Cullen took 19,238 votes, or 54.9 per cent.

Voter turnout was 58.6 per cent of the electors, or 35,065 votes.

May 2’s historic vote also saw the fall of the Liberal party as Official Opposition, that title now handed over to the NDP.

As for other candidates in this riding, Kyle Warwick of the Liberals took 1,266 votes, CHP’s Rod Taylor received 1,044, CAP’s Maggie Braun took 164, and the Green Party’s Roger Benham received 1,098.
