Lac la Hache kicked off the end of the curling season with the annual End of Year Funspiel.

Thirteen teams participated in the event, which ran March 18 at the 100 Mile Curling Club.

Players of all ages and skills took part, all the way up to long-time curler Robert Shearer. Shearer skipped a rink in the bonspiel and celebrated his 90th birthday during the weekend with a birthday cake card and cake from the Lac la Hache Curling Club.

The day was jam packed with action, each team playing three draws of four ends. Capping off the event was a dinner where people warmed up off the ice celebrated their curling success.

The event wrapped up the curling season and curlers are putting away their brooms, ready for next year’s season to start.
