A male cyclist was taken to hospital after he was struck by a pickup truck Monday afternoon in Abbotsford.
Crews with Abbotsford Rescue Fire Service and BC Ambulance were called at about 2:30 p.m. to the area of Beaver Street and Dolphin Crescent.
AFRS assistant fire chief Craig Leighton said the cyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, and the helmet was “heavily damaged.”
Leighton said the front of the pickup was also damaged.
The condition of the cyclist is not known at this time. Authorities have not confirmed his age, although a witness at the scene said the cyclist is 14.
Leighton said investigators with the Abbotsford Police Department are on scene to gather evidence and determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
