An apparent break-and-enter turned out to be something completely different for Vernon RCMP.

On Saturday a about 9:50 p.m., officers received a report of intruders at a compound in the 4200 block of 30th Street.

“A security company reported that there were two people sitting inside a motorhome in a compound and they appeared to be drinking,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.

Upon arrival, officers approached a 60-year-old man and his 24-year-old son.

“The men said the gate was open and the motorhome was open and they thought it was a good place to drink,” said Molendyk.

No damage was done to the trailer and the pair were taken to the RCMP detachment to sober up. They were released and no charges are pending.

“There was no intent to steal, they just went there for a drink,” said Molendyk.
