Dangerous driver arrested between Vanderhoof and Prince George

Charges approved against Cameron Boyes

A Prince George man has been charged after police arrested what they described as a dangerous driver whose journey began in Vanderhoof.

Prince George RCMP were notified shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26 of a driver last seen heading east of Vanderhoof at a high rate of speed.

“Frontline members learned the driver was traveling at excessive speeds and collided with another vehicle without stopping while driving through Vanderhoof,” RCMP said in a news release.

Police roadblocks were set up in the Beaverly area to stop the driver who attempted to evade them multiple times even after the successful deployment of a spike belt.

“The vehicle was located not far from where the spike belt was used and, with the assistance of a police service dog, the driver was located and arrested,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Prince George RCMP Media Relations Officer.

The driver was identified as 22-year-old Cameron Boyes, who is known to police.

Since his arrest, Boyes has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, obstructing a police officer, resisting arrest, possessing a weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition and possessing ammunition contrary to order.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the driving behaviour of Boyes to contact them or Crime Stoppers and reference Prince George RCMP file number 2021-37787. The vehicle is described as a grey Honda sedan with the rear bumper hanging off and extensive damage to its’ exterior.
