Dave Gordon has won the Terrace council byelection held June 5, gathering more votes than his three opponents combined.
Gordon took 477 votes with Joely Viveiros placing second at 154 votes, Alexander Pietralla at 100 votes and Amadeep Singh Saini at 44 votes.
The turnout was a historic low, with just nine per cent of those eligible deciding to turn out to cast a ballot at either advanced polls, by mail or at the main poll held at the Sportsplex.
Gordon, a retired business owner and partner in an environmental consultancy company, joins council to fill the seat left vacant when Jessica McCallum-Miller resigned in February.
Municipal voters next have the opportunity to cast ballots when all six council positions and the mayor’s seat come open at the general election slated for Oct. 2022.
