David Suzuki will speak in Nelson tomorrow in support of the B.C. Green Party.
At 9:00 a.m., at the cafe area of the Kootenay Co-op, he will speak about about green energy, sponsored by the West Kootenay EcoSociety.
From 11:00 until noon, he will campaign door to door with Nelson-Creston Green Party candidate Kim Charlesworth in uphill.
Suzuki will attend a campaign rally at Lakeside Park starting at 1 p.m. and will deliver the keynote address at 1:30.
“The B.C. Liberal Government has failed to show leadership on taking action on climate change,” Charlesworth said in a news release.
“We need government action to mitigate the effects of climate change and help B.C. transition to the low-carbon economy. Dr. Suzuki has been advocating for our awareness on this file for decades.”
Suzuki is the third in a string of powerful campaigners the Greens have brought to Nelson-Creston during the campaign. The party, apparently perceiving the riding as a promising opportunity, has also brought in provincial Green Party leader Andrew Weaver and federal leader Elizabeth May.
