The deadline for input for the City of Grand Forks’ branding project is this Thursday.
The Grand Forks Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) is seeking input from locals about their thoughts and what they think represents the city.
Coun. Bob Kendel encourages everybody to fill out a survey, which has 10 questions.
“Young or old, it does matter what you tell us,” he said. “Story & Co., the company that will be creating the brand for us, will be taking in and compiling all the information that comes back. The recommendations will then go to the Boundary Economic Development Advisory Committee and then to the city.”
Coun. Gary Smith added that there is a schedule for when everything should be submitted.
“We basically said, here are the dates and we’ll schedule around it,” Smith said. “That way we know what we have to accomplish and the time we have to accomplish it.”
The outcome of the brand will be determined by the number of responses that come back with the survey, Smith pointed out.
“We’ve had a number online, around 40, on the first few days but there weren’t too many paper copies at city hall,” he explained. “It’s about the people making decisions on their own community. I know there have been a lot of questions about the branding and why we need it but it’s about strengthening our current brand.”
Smith hopes the new brand can be used to bolster the community.
“It’s about telling the story that we have,” concluded Smith. “The more people we have telling it, the stronger the story will be.”
Hardcopy forms can still be picked up at CIBC bank, city hall and Grand Forks Credit Union. Once completed, they are to be returned to city hall by Thursday, Nov. 15.
