Deadline set for Enderby building

City council has extended compliance with remedial action requirements for the Little City Fashions building on Cliff Avenue.

Time is running out for a derelict structure in downtown Enderby.

City council has extended compliance with remedial action requirements to six weeks from Nov. 19 for the Little City Fashions building on Cliff Avenue.

“We’re going to extend the period because there is litigation between the building owners and the insurance company,” said Mayor Howie Cyr.

“This will allow them to get any physical evidence for a court case before they do remediation.”

Fire roared through the building Jan. 28, 2011 and the city has been trying to have the structure removed since then.

Numerous complaints have come from residents about the building being unsightly and a potential hazard.

Cyr admits the city wants the situation resolved.

“The six-week grace period is firm and we won’t continue on with delay, delay, delay,” he said.
