Delta Police are asking for young artists to help them 'Wrap our Ride.'

Delta Police are looking to recruit young local artists in the community to submit their most creative design to help the department customize its recently acquired 2009 Cadillac Escalade.

The DPD has been granted a 2009 Cadillac Escalade through the provincial government’s civil forfeiture program, which continues to undermine the profit motive behind gang and criminal activity by taking away these proceeds of crime.

The Escalade will be incorporated into the department’s operational support section and will be taken to various community and youth events to drive home the message that crime doesn’t pay. The goal is to encourage a conversation around making positive choices and connections in the community, as opposed to going into a life of crime which will only snuff out the potential of everyone involved in it.

Delta Police believe it is important to engage and collaborate with young people by utilizing their skills and talents to develop the design and message on this vehicle.

“There are some very talented young people out there and who better to craft the design for the vehicle than those we are trying to reach,” said DPD Chief Neil Dubord.

The combined forces special enforcement unit (CFSEU) is also supporting this initiative, and artists submitting designs are asked to either incorporate the phrase “End Gang Life” in the design or leave space for it to be incorporated on the vehicle.

Anyone within Delta who is between 12 and 24 years old is invited to submit their design by March 31. The winning design will be selected as the vehicle wrap and the artist will have their signature on the vehicle signifying credit for their work.
