The following is the COmox Valley RCMP Report for the week of Sept. 20-26:
Drunk and distracted
During the afternoon of Sept. 22, a Comox Valley Municipal Traffic Section member observed a driver using a cellular phone while driving in the Courtenay area. A traffic stop was conducted. During the stop, the police officer determined the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was served a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. (2016-12001)
Designated drunk
During the early morning hours of Sept. 25, a Comox Valley RCMP Constable had noted a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner in the downtown area of Courtenay. A traffic stop was initiated and the member started an impaired driving investigation. The driver claimed to have been the evening’s designated driver, but ended up being issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and having the vehicle impounded for 30 days. (2016-12120)
Thefts from vehicles
The Comox Valley RCMP received four calls regarding thefts from vehicles, between Sept. 20-26. Items taken included wallets, clothing, laptop computers, money and cellphones. The Comox Valley RCMP are reminding residents to ensure their vehicles are locked at all times, and valuables are not left in them.
Work truck stolen
A business break and enter that included the theft of a work truck, oil and diesel was reported Sept. 20. Sometime overnight Sept. 19, an unknown person(s) had entered a property located in the 5000 block of Island Highway South and broken into a shop on the property. Several jugs of different oil grades were taken. A 2008 extended cab F-450 shop truck, described as being white in color with a flat deck bed, compressor, tidy tank with diesel fuel and a spool of wire was also missing. There were no license plates on this vehicle.

Sea can B&Es
Two more break, enter and thefts were reported on Sept. 20, this time involving construction sites and sea cans. A construction site on the 100 block of Baynes Drive, Fanny Bay had their sea can broken into overnight. Two chainsaws, a bush cutter, a Skilsaw and a nail gun were taken. A compressor was also taken from the work area. (2016-11871)

A second sea can on the 1600 block of Comox Ave, Comox, was broken into overnight, resulting in the theft of numerous construction tools. All the tools are described to have green paint on them. (2016-11875)
Residential B&E in Cumby
A residential break, enter and theft, that occurred the previous day, on the 2700 block of Ulverston Avenue, Cumberland, was reported on Sept. 21. An unknown person(s) had entered the residence and stole a ring and a PlayStation game console. The Comox Valley RCMP would like to remind everyone to ensure all their windows and doors are locked, even if they leave for a short period of time. (2016-11932)
Mischief at Highland
A mischief to a school, located on the 700 block of Pritchard Road, Courtenay, was reported on Sept. 22. Sometime overnight, an unknown person(s) had gotten onto the roof of the building and painted graffiti on a window. (2016-11980)
Hot wheels
The Comox Valley RCMP received a call regarding a stolen bicycle on September 22nd. The bike, a green and black Cannondale with lights on the front and back, was reported to have been taken when it was in front of a business located on the 400 block of Ryan Road, in Courtenay. (2016-11965)
Trailer stolen, gear removed
A theft of an enclosed trailer and its contents was reported on Sept. 24. The trailer was at a construction site located on the 500 block of Kinnikinik Way, Comox. The trailer was full of construction tools including a generator and compressor. On Sept. 25, the trailer was located, but all the enclosed items had been removed. (2016-12076)
Tire slashed
On Sept. 24, the Comox Valley RCMP received a call regarding a vehicle tire that had been slashed the previous day, while it was parked on the 2200 block of Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay. Sometime during business hours on Sept. 23, an unknown person(s) had damaged the parked vehicles tire.
Smashed canopy window
A report of a mischief to a vehicle was made to the Comox Valley RCMP on Sept. 26. Sometime overnight, an unknown person(s) had broken the window out of a canopy that was on a vehicle parked on the 1500 block of Burgess Road, Courtenay.
