About a dozen participants took part in a workshop put on by the Columbia Basin Rural Development Institute (RDI) on May 14 at Selkirk College. The interactive workshop focused on a powerful new regional information tool called the Digital Basin.“We’re here to roll out two of the major products we have produced over the past few years,” said Lauren Rethoret, researcher with the RDI. “One of those is the Digital Basin, which is an online community information portal. The other is an employment lands project, which is again an online portal.”Rethoret said the employment lands project is an attempt to access land availability in the region and to help people looking for land to make the first steps towards identifying potential properties to help their business expand or relocate to the region.
