The Abbotsford School of Integrated Arts North Poplar was under a shelter-in-place Wednesday afternoon, prompted by a police incident across the street.
A shelter-in-place keeps students inside a school building but, unlike a lockdown, normal school activity flows to and from its halls and rooms.
Abbotsford Police Department members responded to a dispute over a cell phone at the Alpine Inn across the street, Const. Ian MacDonald said.
He said an individual was barricaded in a suite with bear spray. Police used aflashbang device “as a compliance tool” to get the person out, according to MacDonald.
A man and a woman in their 20s have been arrested but, MacDonald said, their identities and any recommended charges are not being released at this time.
Police are investigating the potential robbery of a cell phone.
By 2:45 p.m. the dispute had been resolved, MacDonald said.
