District buys truck

The District of Coldstream didn’t have many options when it came to buying a new set of wheels.

The District of Coldstream didn’t have many options when it came to buying a new set of wheels.

Council has approved $37,070 to purchase a half-ton pickup truck from Marjak Leasing, the only bid received when the item went to tender.

“Was it too small a purchase to get anyone else to bid?” said Coun. Pat Cochrane.

Staff was surprised by the lack of interest as three quotations are usually received.

“I don’t know why other dealers didn’t put in a bid,” said Trevor Seibel, chief administrative officer.

The district originally had $30,000 in the budget to acquire a new vehicle, so the additional $7,070 in the tender will come from the equipment replacement reserve.
