The District of Vanderhoof is pleased to announce today a community enriching partnership with the YMCA of Northern BC and Integris Credit Union to offer a much needed childcare facility for the District of Vanderhoof.  The old Integris Credit Union building located at 186 Columbia Street West will become the Integris Community Centre, offering 43 childcare spaces.

“For many years, childcare has been a top concern for the District; we are pleased to address this major challenge with made-in-Vanderhoof solution. Investing in the new Integris Community Centre shows prudent financial management from the District, as well as a commitment to the long term sustainability of our community,” says Tom Clement, Chief Administrative Officer with the District of Vanderhoof.

“The YMCA of Northern BC is pleased to partner with the District and Integris to offer childcare services for pre-school, day-care and after-school care for up to forty-three children in Vanderhoof, eight of which are new spaces for infants and toddlers,” says Amanda Alexander, CEO of the YMCA of Northern BC. She continues: “This is a huge win for our community and we couldn’t be more proud of this local solution.”

The new Integris Community Centre will provide high quality care for families in Vanderhoof and will attract new families ensuring the sustainability of the community; as a local business, Integris is a key stakeholder with a vested interest in the long term sustainability of Vanderhoof.

“For us, it’s about enriching the community to ensure ‘Life out here’ is the very best it can be!” says Audrey Carlson, Branch Manager of Integris in Vanderhoof. The Integris Community Foundation and Integris Credit Union played an important role in supporting both the District of Vanderhoof and the YMCA of Northern BC in making this facility a reality. We are so pleased to be one of the partners in a project that will have a huge impact for the people of Vanderhoof for many years to come,” says Carlson.

The Integris Community Foundation was created in 2002 to promote and provide charitable assistance that contributes towards the vibrancy, sustainability and well-being of the community as a whole in Vanderhoof, Fort St. James, Fraser Lake and surrounding areas.  Since 2002, the Integris Community Foundation has invested over $800,000 into the community.

Construction on the Integris Community Centre is already underway, with plans to open the facility in the fall.
