Are you concerned that the program might have gone too far and be harming the critters that live in the woods? Or perhaps you wonder if the program is being carried out thoroughly enough to protect the community from the danger from forest fires?

Better check out the fuel management open house being organized by District of Clearwater.

Topics on the agenda will include an overview of what the forest fuel management program has done for the community, showcasing the before and after of fuel mitigation.

Also on the agenda will be the benefits of the fuel management treatments on the forest and the community, and how to “fire smart” your home and property.

Speakers will include Mayor John Harwood, economic development officer Leslie Groulx, community wildfire protection coordinator Wes Bieber, Ministry of Forests fuel management specialist Gord Pratt, Clearwater Fire Zone representatives Jim Jones and Vaughn McCaig, and Clearwater fire chief Mike Smith.

The forest fuel open house will be held this coming Wednesday, Jan. 26, in the Pit at Clearwater Secondary School, starting at 7 p.m.
