The District of Barriere has joined with Sun Peaks Mountain Resort in the hiring of building inspector Gerald Allgaier, who will service both municipalities.
Allgaier, who only recently accepted the contract position between the two municipalities has worked in the carpentry trade since 1982, and says he has been a resident of the area for most of his life.
Working extensively in Sun Peaks for the last 10 years as a lead hand layout carpenter, Allgaier has also worked throughout British Columbia, and was chosen to be a member of a team of Canadian carpenters who taught platform framing in Japan.
Allgaier recently passed his Level 1 Building Inspection course, and says he is excited about working in this capacity for both municipalities.
“Gerald will be assuming his part time position in early May during which time he will be accompanying the TNRD on their rounds in his areas,” said District of Barriere CAO Colleen Hannigan, “By the end of May people within the municipal boundaries of the District of Barriere and Sun Peaks will be dealing directly with him on their building permits. The goal of both councils is to provide an increased level of service with streamlined development and building approvals in the inspection process.”
