District scholarship presentations were held today at the Abbotsford Arts Centre and Abbotsford Senior Secondary.

This is part of the provincial scholarships program, and a total of 158 Grade 12 students from throughout the district made presentations in categories such as photography, music, drama, dance, community service, textiles and trades.

Adjudicators were school district staff and members of the community.

The total scholarship amount available was $154,000.

The district scholarships, also known as District Authority Awards, are presented each year to graduating students for excellence in their chosen non-academic field. Recipients receive $500 cash and $500 to be applied toward post-secondary tuition.

All Grade 12’s are eligible to apply.
