Grand Forks residents feeling a bit under the weather can be thankful for the opening of a new walk-in clinic this week.
The clinic, which opened on Tuesday, is run by Dr. Carol out of the Boundary Medical Clinic. Her husband, Brian Coutts, takes care of some of the administrative work for the new walk-in clinic, like placing ads.
Coutts said this is something the community has needed for quite a while.
“There were lots of people asking, especially in the summertime—there are walk-in clincs in other areas,” he said. “Especially with the out of town people, most of them had to go to the emergency department for any issue.”
The clinic will be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., with Dr. Carol presiding unless she’s called away, in which case another doctor will take over, Coutts said.
“If there is a greater need, there may be additional times opening at a later date,” he said.
This should help residents get access to care faster, Coutts said.
“There was a need for people who had urgent care issues to be able to get in in a timely manner, without having to go to the emergency department,” he said.
