Another person has been bitten by a dog in Maple Ridge’s downtown, following a previous incident in June.
Ridge Meadows RCMP said that at about 4 p.m. Wednesday, a cyclist was stopped on 224th Street at 124th Avenue when a dog bit him on the hand and in the abdomen.
Police later located the victim at 222nd Street and Brown Avenue. An ambulance took him to Ridge Meadows Hospital for treatment.
RCMP can’t say if the dog was with its owner at the time or if it was on a leash. The victim described the dog as a pit bull, but police can’t verify that and haven’t found the dog.
The Maple Ridge SPCA were also informed.
On June 5, a man was attacked by a beige-and-white dog described as a pit bull at 222nd Street and Dewdney Trunk Road as he left a convenience store. He suffered seven bites.
A 10-year-old student at Laityview elementary was also bitten on June 17 when a German shepherd-type dog got away from its owner and attacked a group of students who were on a cycling field trip.
