Nicole Lurz desperately wants her dog back.
Lurz, who recently moved to Williams Lake, says her Boxer, four-year-old Aries, went missing from her yard on Evergreen Street as a result of a broken latch after she moved in Sept. 9. He hasn’t been seen since.
Lurz has contacted the RCMP, BC SPCA, Williams Lake pound, vet clinics, City work crews and showered the city with missing posters with little success.
She says the first two weeks after his disappearance Aries was spotted running around in different areas of the city. While she hasn’t seen him since he escaped, Lurz says, more recently others, who have responded to her missing posters, have told her Aries has been seen several times being walked in the Western Avenue/Carson Drive area by an individual described as six-feet tall with medium-length blond hair and a black jacket and once in an older model red pick-up truck.
Because missing posters have been removed from public locations in that area and not others in the city, Lurz is convinced the individual who has Aries isn’t interested in returning him. Lurz has reported the dog missing to the RCMP but she isn’t hopeful.
“People are calling me to tell me they’ve seen the dog and I’ve been driving around constantly for hours every day. I’ve never seen him. I’m always 10 minutes behind,” she says.
In addition to wanting her dog back safely, Lurz is concerned for Aries’ health. She says he recently underwent surgery for his eyes and is currently without the required medication. When he went missing he was wearing a cone rather than a collar in order to prevent him from worrying a surgical incision on his neck.
Lurz describes her dog as timid and “very sick.”
Aries is a white Boxer with two black dots on his right ear. His neck was shaved because of recent veterinary care but Lurz thinks by now the hair would have grown back.
