Don’t miss your chance to light up the Avenue

Share your Oak Bay Christmas Festival story and you could turn on the holiday lights

You could flip the switch that welcomes the Christmas season to Oak Bay Avenue, and all it takes is a story.

In honour of the 15th annual light up Nov. 29, the Oak Bay Business Improvement Association is offering the chance for residents to share their stories of Christmas Festivals past and vie for the chance to turn on the thousands of lights strung along the Avenue’s shop windows and lamp standards.

Maybe you recall the first time your son or daughter sat on Santa’s knee? Your first taste of roasted chestnuts savoured among the sights and sounds of the holidays? Meeting friends for the annual Gallery Walk?

No matter what your most cherished Christmas Festival memory is, we want to hear about it.

Simply visit oakbaynews.com and click on the contest link, where you can submit your story. Alternatively, drop off a written submission to Oak Bay BIA president Liz Smith at Athlone Travel.

The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. Nov. 27.

The Oak Bay Light-up will fill the village with a whole host of entertainment, activities, refreshments and more.
